have the broken one rebuilt, that is by far the cheapest way to go. poke around the classifieds as well. if you go on ls1tech, a guy JasonShort will definitely have a couple kickin around. very easy guy to deal with as well, tell him i sent ya.
I think i got the one on my car at AZ like 4 or 5 years ago for ~ $130. It's got kind of a cool looking shield on it too. i replaced it due to what i thought was a charging problem and since the battery was new i figured it couldn't be the battery, i was wrong. lol. A few years later when i finally replaced the battery the "if it sits for more than 3-4 days its dead" problem went away.
Looks like AZ has them now for $134.99 new or $119.99 for a reman with a lifetime warrenty on the new one and 1 year on the reman
i didn't do a thing to it. what you see is what you get.
its mainly the sheld thats shiny. here's a pic from a different angle (the intake isn't painted in this pic because it was taken a few months before the intake gasket was replaced and the intake painted)
IIRC yes. An autozone in Glendale, AZ. It was probably a reman since apparently the ones AZ sells are remans and the premium reman which i think i got came with a Lifetime warranty. what i said above about reman vs new i actually misread and its reman vs premium reman. either way its been in there for ~ 4 years w/o a problem.
Just came back from Autozone and Kragen, none of their alternators look as good as yours BLK95TA. The shields on all of them are black and the pulley is gold. I might just get mine powdercoated. Not sure how much that costs though.
