For something that big and heavy, you might be better off searching craigslist. Use "lt1" as your search query, and branch out from your home city, as far as, your willing to drive to pick it up. On the other hand, you might be able to get someone selling to deliver. I bought my lt1 from 200 miles away and had it delivered.

Another option would be Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market This is a salvage yard search engine where you can search your state, region, or even the whole country. Since all these yards ship engines on a regular basis, you will probably be able to get a better deal on shipping than with a private party.

Yes, I have several wanted ads on craigslist for a 250 mile radius searching for one daily and no luck yet so I thought i would try here.

Did you try searching craigslist using lt1 as your search, in the parts section. Here in Florida, I usually turn up quite a few lt1's for sale in the 250 mile search range.

I have one that was just built about a year ago with 1K miles on it. It is stroked out to a 383. Before I sell it though, I want to put an LS motor in place of it. The LT1 has ported heads, cam, shorty headers and forged pistons with 42# injectors. 382 rwhp and 420 lbs torque...not bad for an LT1
