to me making an srt4 out of a neon would be like puttin lipstick on a pig, it just doesnt make sense, in the end its still a pig and the car is still gay
04 Srt,Stage1 ecm,K&N cold air intake and a Buschur exhaust on Bfg drag radials netted a 12.84 at 106. Alot of bang for the buck.johntom said:to me making an srt4 out of a neon would be like puttin lipstick on a pig, it just doesnt make sense, in the end its still a pig and the car is still gay
Yeah but young kids think old Novas are slow...they won't buy it unless it has 2 cams and 4 valves per cylinder and has a wing. Plus some people absolutely have to buy only new cars.Karps TA said:I don't buy the bang for a buck theory either. For a third of the money you could buy a 70's Nova, stick a motor in it and run faster then 12's.
Leave Neon's to what they do best. Crappy subcompact rentals cars that everyone complains about getting when they get one.

I guess I'm just a dork.. I'm 20.Chris89gta said:You guys dont' get it b/c you are not part of the new "hip" crowd that is into the import craze. For what it is, its not bad if you look at the money spent. Its a fairly inexpensive turbo car. Not necessarily my cup of tea, obviously, but for a lot of my peers (yes I am 22) and the younger crowd that is the hot shit right now. I am not going to rain on their parade too bad, except when I smack one around on the track... or street... whichever is available!!! LOL
I understand that it's cheap power, but what the hell is the point? You can't get that power to the ground. The fastest stock suspended srt-4 will stay in 10s forever. Sure I'd have fun driving it, about as much fun as I have driving my WRX. But that doesn't mean I'm going to jizz all over myself every time I see a fast one at the track like I do with F-Bodies. Just seems pointless to me.josh99ta said:I'll be in the minority here...
First off, I can appreciate anything that is decently fast. The SRT-4 certainly falls within that category. I dont know exact figures, but I bet it gets very good gas mileage, and it's probably got something most cars try hard to achieve, the "fun to drive" factor of a light(er)weight vehicle that can move pretty decently in a straight line or through the curves (although it may not excel at either), and it has four doors meaning it's practical. Now I'll give it that its not the prettiest thing on the road, but thats secondary IMO to it's pluses, and it really doesn't look THAT bad, especially in the darker colors.
I bet if you took one for an open-minded test drive you'd probably have fun driving the little thing. Granted it might not be your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it isn't a cool little car. Now the attitude of the little punks that drive most of them, thats another story...
I guess I should get in line more with the smack talking spirit.![]()
I was the same way. In high school my friend's 305 TBI motored Firebird felt fast as hell. Ever since then, if it doesn't run 10s, it ain't fast in my book.I remember when I first start noticing things while riding in a car. An 18 second 1989 Honda Accord felt fast. Then my buddy got a high 15 second GSR, that thing felt like hell on wheels. When I got my Trans Am we were blown away. Some people just haven't been raised around cars or been in a fast car, so a low 14 second SRT-4 that is fun to drive feels like a missle to them. It has alot to do with the young-and-cocky attitude also.
