Why do people find the SRT-4 so desirable???

Four doors, FWD, ugly, Neon. What the hell? I just don't get it. Sure it makes good power but what the hell's the point if you can't get that to the ground.

to me making an srt4 out of a neon would be like puttin lipstick on a pig, it just doesnt make sense, in the end its still a pig and the car is still gay
Exactly.....someone once said to me you can make a turd run 12s with enough money, but in the end its still a turd.

Its no more desireable to me than a Pinto GT, LOL.
Somebody should post this on SRTforums... :D
That's not to say it isn't a neat little car, but a) its not my taste and b) this is the SMACK FORUM!!!!!!

SRT4 sucks!!!!!! :twak:
I think people love them because 1. this country is infatuated with small turbocharged vehicles, and 2. the srt is pretty affordable.

04 Srt,Stage1 ecm,K&N cold air intake and a Buschur exhaust on Bfg drag radials netted a 12.84 at 106. Alot of bang for the buck.
I don't buy the bang for a buck theory either. For a third of the money you could buy a 70's Nova, stick a motor in it and run faster then 12's.

Leave Neon's to what they do best. Crappy subcompact rentals cars that everyone complains about getting when they get one.

Yeah but young kids think old Novas are slow...they won't buy it unless it has 2 cams and 4 valves per cylinder and has a wing. Plus some people absolutely have to buy only new cars.
Well absolutely having to have a new car and yet choosing a Neon is grounds for a mandatory mental health exam.

I fear for America's youth. We V8 muscle car driving people need to hurry up and pollute the enviroment to kill off the future generations! lol
You guys dont' get it b/c you are not part of the new "hip" crowd that is into the import craze. For what it is, its not bad if you look at the money spent. Its a fairly inexpensive turbo car. Not necessarily my cup of tea, obviously, but for a lot of my peers (yes I am 22) and the younger crowd that is the hot shit right now. I am not going to rain on their parade too bad, except when I smack one around on the track... or street... whichever is available!!! LOL
Because they are sports cars :poke:
I have a little brother age 11. He hates ricers. He makes fun of them normally i usually dont because thats their taste. He is quick to make fun of a fart can and a wing cars. My brother is already saving up for his 16th b-day to have a camaro. So not every youth is like that.
I'll be in the minority here...

First off, I can appreciate anything that is decently fast. The SRT-4 certainly falls within that category. I dont know exact figures, but I bet it gets very good gas mileage, and it's probably got something most cars try hard to achieve, the "fun to drive" factor of a light(er)weight vehicle that can move pretty decently in a straight line or through the curves (although it may not excel at either), and it has four doors meaning it's practical. Now I'll give it that its not the prettiest thing on the road, but thats secondary IMO to it's pluses, and it really doesn't look THAT bad, especially in the darker colors.

I bet if you took one for an open-minded test drive you'd probably have fun driving the little thing. Granted it might not be your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it isn't a cool little car. Now the attitude of the little punks that drive most of them, thats another story...

I guess I should get in line more with the smack talking spirit. :p

I am not disagreeing to that liking. Ive drivin test driven one it was quite nice and fast for stock. Faster than the other cars i tested out. But i tihnk vendetta was pointing out that EVERYONE and thier mom is now buying them because it sthe hottest shit on the market and its ungodly fast from the showroom. What the fwd guys no is its no faster than my camaro stock or an evo, impreza, etc.
Yeah Josh...get with it!!!!
It all comes down to the general public having no taste anymore. GM should just bring back the Aztec with a turbo 4 cyl putting out 300 hp and AWD and watch them fly off the lots.

I remember when I first start noticing things while riding in a car. An 18 second 1989 Honda Accord felt fast. Then my buddy got a high 15 second GSR, that thing felt like hell on wheels. When I got my Trans Am we were blown away. Some people just haven't been raised around cars or been in a fast car, so a low 14 second SRT-4 that is fun to drive feels like a missle to them. It has alot to do with the young-and-cocky attitude also.

Just remember, there is always someone faster. Granted there are alot of people faster than SRT-4s (lol) but thats not my point. :)

I understand that it's cheap power, but what the hell is the point? You can't get that power to the ground. The fastest stock suspended srt-4 will stay in 10s forever. Sure I'd have fun driving it, about as much fun as I have driving my WRX. But that doesn't mean I'm going to jizz all over myself every time I see a fast one at the track like I do with F-Bodies. Just seems pointless to me.

I was the same way. In high school my friend's 305 TBI motored Firebird felt fast as hell. Ever since then, if it doesn't run 10s, it ain't fast in my book.
