I want to replace the left side door on my 1993 Camaro because of a power window motor that was replaced incorrectly and ripped through the panel. I found a door off a 97 Camaro which looks identical to mine. I noticed the door was much heavier even though it would fit fine. I also came across a door off a 99 and it was heavy also. Does anyone know which year GM started using the heavier doors? I'd rather not use one.

Its supposed to be a reinforcement bar in answer to the Roush racing mustangs targeting the Driverside doors as Camaro passes in races to try to intimidate drivers.
And it is a widely known Ford mustang owner thing .
the scars of getting beat by Camaros run deep .
In a strait line street race a cobra driver placed 2 guys on side of track .
And they threw gravel at the side of my car .
I thought i hit gravel on road till race was over and i saw dings in rear fenders .
A friend pointed one of them out.
He was heading for a bright orange newly painted foxbody .
After pounding him I used him for a battering ram on his drivers door
slammed him on his hood and jumped up and down stomping on him till his hood caved in .
That was the second time the guy threw rocks at my Camaro ..
I hope I left a lasting impression on them or at least him lol
But i looked at my doors and didnt see a reinforcement bar..
but they talk about it in the 97 camaro GM heritage car specs.
