i think i know what youre talking about...

when you go to put it in gear, it almost feels like it stops short before its actually in gear....so you pull/push a lil harder and it will go in...?

im not sure what causes it. i know mine used to do it, but i havent drove but a few times in the past month, so i dont remember if it does it still. try changing the tranny fluid and put in some gm synchromesh. doing that helped my friends 99 SS

Its called a t56. Every t56 I have ever driven has been that way. Bob's being the worst w/ that aftermarket shifter.

LMAO. I've not driven enough of them to know but I can say it wasn't as bad with the stock shifter.

Fluid changes do help this problem somewhat. If it is equall resistance in all gears I start w/ changing the fluid. But if it seems worse in underdrive gears, 1-4 & Rev I'd look at hydraulic's & the trans itself. Aside from the shifter detent pieces, the shift rail & forks & bushings, & the bearing endplay & backlash settings in good condition/standing, only other things to worry about are;The clutch teeth on the speed gears the shift collars on the syncro's & the blocker rings have wear on them. That will add to the resistance in shifting when the teeth get rounded off, that it need a new one.

Same thing happened to me after I put in the SLP short-throw shifter. It was harder to bang 2nd at high RPM's w/dual-friction Centerforce & I used to miss gears a LOT. Now I have a Lou's short-throw with a Zo6 clutch & the ONLY time I miss is if I shift too fast, but it might have something to do with your synchros/shift forks being bad :dontknow: Good luck with the investigation.
