posi = positraction = GM's designation for their various limited slip diffs, it became almost generic and is applied to different technologies. Not very active in current models.
posi is not a spool or any type of locked axle equipment.
Why isn't your's tracking on both? Loss of friction material from previous shenanigans. Have you by chance actually checked your fluid?
way i have aways checked to see that the rear needed fluid and friction modifier, is back up before you do your burn out... then burn out if you get a 2 tire fire when you do that, but you only spin one tire when you dont , then its time for a fluid change...
if you back up then burn out and you still only have 1 spinning then your unit is toast...
from what i know that rear should at least have a Zexel Thorsen posi in it. so unless its burnt out you should be spinning both wheels.... do like Jaber says back up a little then try.
So I have now got the car on stands.
I have pulled the diff cover and have found out,why my car wont spin both wheels.
It has an open diff.....no clutches...or zexel....nothing.
The rest looks right...it has the ring for the T.C. all the abs shit is there.
The crown and pin are worn out as well.
Looks like some one just put in a regular diff or removed the clutches?
So it is time to look for a new diff......I would like to keep the same housing and just put in the chunk its self....this car will not see more then 400HP and is an a4.
Opinion's on what kind of diff to use......
