Looks like a kit that was put together by someone whos never actually built a 4L60E. They include parts in the kit that most professional builders don't/won't use because they've proven to cause problems. What I don't understand is why someone would spend this much money on a kit with inferior parts. By the time you spend another $500 for specialty tools, you could just have one built by a pro.

I have'nt bought this kit ,and dont plan on rebuilding the trans my self, i have a guy that has a trans shop that would do the build but im looking for a good master rebuild kit for my trans. I have'nt talk to the trans shop yet. I need a trans to hold up with my built lt1 and want my trans to handle 500+hp even though my engine is going to be around 430+ hp

If someone is building your trans, he won't want you to bring him the parts. There's an old saying..."You don't take your own sand to the beach"...LOL If you're not comfortable with the idea that your builder can choose the right parts for your build, maybe he's not the right builder. One thing is certain...The parts in that kit won't build a trans capable of handling 400 HP.

Thanks my friend for the info your right i should talk to the builder first and see what he has to say before i waste money and time on parts this guy has done a few trans, for me in the past and they work very good but they where stock trannys, and they were not 4L60E but the guy has been in busness for 20+ years and is the best around here and stands up for his work i'll talk to him thanks .Im guessing my engine is going to put 400hp to the wheels or very close to it and want my trans to hold up . im not going to race this setup its just for playing around thanks agian.:LS1LT1flag:

Make sure you find a reputable shop that has built performance transmissions too. I got hurt in the longrun having my coworker that builds transmissions at a GM dealership. May be good at fixing stock transmissions but performance to hold power can be a different story. Not even half a year later and ripping it out 4 different times made it time to find a new transmission guy.

New builder had a crazy look on his face which im sure Cahall and Dynamic396 had the same look on their face about all the different parts the previous builder used. Now getting ready to order 5-600$ rebuild kit from Dynamic Custom Transmissions. Probably more than any ebay kit but my builder seemed happy and confident with the list of parts and will payoff better in the long run.

Yeah, that Trutech kit (at least the one I'm looking at) is missing quite a bit of stuff - no bushings, sun shell, 3-4 piston, sprags, servo(s), solenoids, pressure switch manifold......

Plus, I wouldn't stack the 3-4 that way. Believe me, over the years, I've tried pretty much every different combination of 3-4 stack up that would fit inside the drum and I have definitely developed my opinions about what works and what doesn't. That way of stacking a seven disc 3-4 wouldn't be my first choice...

I am the guy who put this kit together. Just to set the record straight I have been a technician since I was 18, I am 53 now. I have been a certified ASE master tech for over 25 years. I have built more transmissions than I can remember, mostly high performance. I have helped hundreds of 1st time transmission builders successfully complete their builds. I offer free technical advice to anyone that needs help with a GM transmission especially the 4L60E. I will go out of my way to help anyone registered on this site with any transmission issue absolutely free of charge. I will explain in detail how a performance 4L60E transmission is built and what parts work best for your application. I will also explain how to build this transmission without specialty tools. Too funny... ASE... Don't get me started...!

There are certainly better ways to do it than this setup. And what about the rest of the parts you'll need?

I'm pretty sure I know what parts go in a "Performance 4L60E"... And it isn't the stuff in this kit...LOL

So damn busy I can hardly see daylight. It's like the flood gates opened after Christmas and we got slammed. I have 7 4L60Es here right now from all over the country and a local 350 and 400. I hope business has been well for you too.

I am sure there are many knowledgeable techs on this site. I simply offered to help the people that maybe don't know everything. I am sure you have a very good business. I usually don't have time to post on sites. I make it a habit not to criticize, especially other transmission builders. There are numerous ways to setup this transmission and I have seen it all. Everyone has their preference and that is perfectly fine with me. My customers call me and thank me on a daily basis for my help. I take the time to help them. I stand behind everything I sell. I have transmissions all over the world literally. I am sorry I posted on this site because I won't battle with you or anyone. I hope you the best.

Good...! Glad you're keeping busy! We definitely are, too! I haven't been building nearly as many 60E's as I used to, though. Maybe 10 or 12 a month now - mostly trucks in this neck of the woods.

We've been building Dodge and Ford diesels mainly these days; 47RE/48RE/68RFE, and E4OD/4R100/5R110W. It's a nice change of pace from the GM stuff, and the diesel guys don't mind spending the $$$ to make things right.

I think this was a very classy post and shows your true character. I welcome you to post on this site as much or as little as you like. It never hurts having another opinion in the mix, especially when presented as you did.

Those poor Dodge/Ford guys, decent motors, baad transmissions
But, just like anything else, you can make a solid performer out of them, even in some pretty extreme applications. It just takes $$$...!

I certainly wasn't hating on the guy...I don't even know him! I'm sure he's a fine guy with a good reputation.

I just don't prefer the parts he sells as a "kit", and if those are the parts he uses in the transmissions he sends all over the world, well, there are better ways to do things. That's all...

I completely understand where you are coming from and didn't intend to point a finger at you. I simply thought that was one of the best replies I've seen in a long time on any car forum and felt it should be addressed. Carry on
