Hi All, I just finally got my T56 bolted up after a new clutch install. While i was trying to get it mounted it rolled over and all of the fluid came out....or a lot of it anyway. My question is how much fluid do i put back in and what kind of fluid? Also where do i put it?

T-56 uses Dextron automatic trans fluid and just about 4 quarts.

I couldn't fine "Dexron II" anywhere so the autozone guy told me that "Dex/Merc is the new Dexron II. I was skeptical but dumped 4 quarts in and it shifts like butter. Do you have any experience with Dex/Merc?

It's basically the same stuff as dexron. If I'm not mistaken, the newer dexron types are backwards compatible to dex2
