I've nearly completed my carb conversion. First start went well, cranked right up. Now I am on to the timing. I have the opti delete plate with the notch on it for timing. My question is, if I know where TDC is, can I just scribe some marks on my OE harmonic balancer and use those for timing?

I would think, if you know where cyl # 1 at TDC is you can scribe a timing mark & make some sort of matching degree indicator to attach to timing cover.

LT1's and 4's don't have a keyway installed on the hub, the crankshaft has a keyway machined into it but its not used, so keep in mind the hub could move on the crankshaft.
