I just bought a 95 trans am. The temp gauge went out on my way home. If I smacked the dash it would pop back up but wasn't reliable. I also noticed when I hit the dash or big bumps that all the gauges we're kinda weak like they would move a little bit. How do I fix this?

The most likely suspect would be loose connectors on the back of cluster. Download 95 service manual @ following link. It will instruct you on how to take cluster out. My Files

Another probability is the printed circuit on back of cluster is going bad. Or the nutd attaching leads of instruments are not making good contact & need tightening.

I did it plugs in with pins. No chewed wires I put some electrical cleaner in the plugs. When I got the cluster out I noticed if I turn it upside down the speedometer gauge ponts down same with the other needles.

I still stand by my observation that something is not making good contact. It could be the printed circuit on the back of the cluster. It could be on the inside of temp gauge. Or many other places in the circuit chain.

The needles moving is common. I have a 2002 cluster in my back room. It's sitting upside down. All the gauge needles are pointing dound. If I turn it over, the needles slowly move back to where they should be.

Ok cool. I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. I downloaded the the 1995 service manual it's a little overwhelming with the 4,100 pages! The last owner (original) said it was the coolant sending sensor but I think he was wrong. I'm gonna take the cluster apart tonight and clean it and check solder connections.
