Hi folks.

I have various ideas for this forum. Basically I want to make a space for sponsors and senior forum staff to discuss things. This also gives me somewhere to talk more openly about my philosophy for running this site in terms of sponsorships, etc.

thumbs up. I like the idea. Actual this forum should help me learn a few things on the proper way to sell on-line and also I hope to get tips and ideas from fellow sponsors, As Darrel Waltrip would say "cooperation + competition = coopetition

Hi Karl. I actually don't know if we'll have enough traffic in here to justify a whole forum, but I figured it was worth a try. Am hoping it is useful to you guys.

I think it might help. Plus we can answer questions for the sponsors to. Also we can put info out to the sponsors.

Since my old man is my consulting engineer I should get him hooked up as part of my sponsorship. He has great insight into running a shop since he has been doing that 30 years, even though he does manufacturing the same business principals apply to engine shops to liquor stores both of which his kids own/run.

He has a favorite saying of mine that fits a lot of this industry....

"We lose 5 cents on every part but we make up for it in volume!"

Haha, I love it when people say thing like "if you cut your price in half you'd sell almost twice as many!"

Yeah or the one example that really hits close to home in this industry....

"I have Comp Pro Mags on sale for $10 over cost" - idiot

"You only make $40 on a set WTF would you do that for?" - me

"because I can sell 4 times as many" - idiot

"Uhh no you have to do 4 times the work to make the same money" - me

Standard thinking that really ticks me off!

Yeah that is the problem with a lot of new e-commerce business. A lot of my competition is practically giving their product away.
