something not right if you can't get 2 of the poly nuts on. The 2 cyl you have issues mean the base circle of the cam is not on th elifter...the lobe is.I can get 14 rocker nuts on, in order to get the other 2 on i gotta turn over the engine. I installed the cam, timing set, and hub myself..
If the cam is installed right, you are not lashing valves right. Either the I/e method where you do 1/2 then rotate engine 360 degrees and do the other 1/2 or doing each cyl by making sure the valve you are adjusting has the base circle of the cam and lifter aligned correctly
FWIW I have always used this method with engine off
with #1 cyl TDC (firing position) adjust:
INT: 1, 3, 4, 8
EX: 1, 2, 5, 7
Rotate engine 360 degrees (#6 cyl firing position)
EX: 2, 5, 6, 7
INT: 3, 4, 6, 8
