shopping for headers

im trying to order some pacesetter longtubes off summit racing. they have 2 sets of headers for my car. one is pacesetter "quicktrip" headers and the other is just pacesetter longtubes. any difference? the part numbers are 70-2339 and 70-2255 or 70-2235.

anything else ill be needing to order with the headers? egr block off plates etc?

also. I have 7mm spark plug wires on the car now with a oreillys autoparts distributor. would it help if I got 8mm? jegs sells a set for 30 bucks.

First DO NOT buy the Jets wires.....THEY SUCK DINOSAUR BALLZ. Second I reccommend Texas Speed to buy your headers. Talk to John. He have me mine for cheap. Cheaper than anyone else. They also come with wires to extend your o2 sensors.
already bought em off summit. 289 + 12 shipping. and they gave me 30 summit bucks (not sure what those are).

mine came painted with the bolts and gaskets. I do need those extensions. you know anywhere that might have the extensions and egr block offs cheap? I found the plates for 21 and extensions for 40 at the ws6store.
I have two brand new never opened Racetronix o2 sensor extrensions if you're interested. Part # RX-O2EXT-4F-24. I ordered them through Texas Speed but I now have my rear o2 tuned out so if you want them give me $70 and I will ship to your door. The price for those block off plates are about as good as you're gonna get. The headers I bought from Texas Speed were the coated race version. They did me good. I find TS to be very well priced and negotiable. Try them out.
I would have recommended saving your money for stainless or at least go ceramic... But meh, tooo late!

Ditto! I have regular edelbrock headers (they came with the car) but I'm going ceramic coated next time for sure.
ceramic coated were about 130 bucks more and stainless steel even more. haha

cant I just repaint them when the paint burns off?

im actually waiting for july so I can pass smog. hopefully by then ill have all the parts for my exhaust maybe some other things.

any suggestions btw for next mods? I was thinking a lt4 hotcam off summit or would it be better to port the intake and get a bigger tb?

I have a friend with a mustang. gotta keep him where he belongs. in my rear view mirror:)
so I found a write up on a random forum. if I just use paint thinner then repaint them with high temp primer and ceramic coat then bake them in the oven for 2 hours at 400 degrees they should be fine. being that I work for an autoparts store I can get the paint cheap((;
From my experience that stuff doesn't work. Hell, I had my ceramic headers re-ceramiced and it didn't even last a season. Next year I'm going stainless.

I've always thought Hot Cams were pointless... But I've never had to pass smog tests. If I were you I would order my own parts. The cam is okay but the LT4 springs and rockers are less than par for the quality and money you can get on other parts for equal value. I would buy the LT4 HotCam alone and then build the rest of my valve train myself.
ive heard alot of different things about coating them yurself. some ppl liked it some didnt. but ill give it a try and make sure to post up pics while doing so.

yeah i was having second thoughts about the cam in general. i mean this is my daily driver. i dont drive alot being that everything is within 3 miles but still. i heard a cam would mess up my mpg too.

i have to take the intake manifold off to reseal it. would it be worth porting it and maybe a 58mm tb? does it make much of a difference?
Zee,
Porting your TB and INTAKE are good choices. Have you thought about porting your heads also. This way you get to take advantage of all your new air breathing potential. Since you want a cam anyways taking the rest apart and having everything done at once just makes sense to me. This said, if you decide to go all in and do heads, cam, intake and TB talk to Advanced Induction and they will set you up pretty sweet. They'll give you a head and cam package that will work for you want. They do it all. Lloyd Elliot will too. Once all is back together you will be a very happy camper.
I don't have the time or money to spend on a project that big right now especially since its my DD I just wanted to add a couple hp with small mods. Ill keep that in mind for when I do decide to get a cam/head job. always good to know a reputable place:)

but like I said. I have to take the manifold off to reseal it. would I be looking at any decent gains from just a port and polish with a bigger tb and stock heads? any idea on hp gain numbers from this?

I myself was gonna go the CC503 route. But a friend gave me a Hotcam so I went that route. Now I'm glad cause theres talk of Eugene, OR and Corvallis, Or going Smog soon :(

I found a place on the Internet that Ceramic Coat my Headers in the color I want (Purple). Does it were off quickly or is it just a workmanship quality issue?

Zee,
The short answer is no. I see you just want more power...we all do! Your plan is to rebuild the top end later down the road..right? How about this: Stop!!!! Save your money and and buy the parts you will need over the course of a year or so and then install at once. Also, like I said before Texas Speed would've have given you coated long tube Pacesetters for just a little more than you paid for your painted ones. I think I paid just over $300 for mine. If you haven't installed them yet send them back and buy cheaper. It will save you time, money, patience etc in the future. Again tell us your goals so that we can better help you.
i already coated the headers. they came with bolts gaskets and bungs. but that trains gone.haha

yes. more power but still daily driver. i do have a problem. my lifters tick REALLY REALLY bad like everyone thinks its a misfire. i put them at zero lash but they just will not stop. i don't know if this is dumb but would it be beneficial to get roller rockers? i will cam it later so will i have to change them again?

this would be great cuz it would solve my annoying ticking and maybe add some power too.
Your engine is mostly stock so I would not add roller rockers. Just try and figure out what is causing your ticking. Often it is exhaust leaks that people hear. If you want easy power just add nitrous. You will want to change all this type stuff at once but if you decide to change them anyways then order the new ls7 lifters and 1.6 rollers. But be careful dont buy the cheap ones. The valve train IS NOT something you skimp on. If I was you I would send my computer off to pcmforless and have them tune it. Nevermind yours is a 94; they will send you everything so you can do it. This will give you more power sense these cars came under tuned from the factory and by tuning you should gain maybe 20hp. Good luck!
i went on the pcmforless website. doesn't say anything about not needing to send my pcm in. what exactly is a pcm tune? is it kinda like a superchip?
Yeah you're speed density so they will mail out to you everything you need. Call www.pcmforless.com and talk to someone. I believe you will need to talk to the N.C. based pcmforless tho. A PCM tune is basically a tune that a tuner puts on your pcm without putting it on a dyno. PFL has done thousands of LT1 tunes and will give you EXACTLY what you need kinda like a super chip but better.
that sounds good. exactly what i was asking for. ill look into that. hopefully with the new headers/exhaust this will put me at some decent power.
