Oh I did attempt to replace the rear main.. but I tend to have bad luck so I changed my mind and left it alone. 😬. I read how some didn't have a leak but they replaced it and then they had a leak. So I figured I'll just get really good at removing the trans if it comes down to that. And I'll have the part already.

If you as a beginner can R&R the 4L60E, then take it apart,put new parts in it, install in car. Then have it work on the 1st rebuild ever, I wouldn't sweat changing a rear seal.

Beside not installing lip of seal correctly, the most common problem on high mileage cars is there is a groove worn in crank that lets oil pass the seal when you install new one.

There should be a repair sleeve available that stops that problem.
