put the car on ramps. take off the y pipe and ubbolt the motor mounts.
unbolt oil pan and oil cooler line.
queg the pan hanging raise the engine as high as you can. the pan should just fall out. well atleast mine did

You should be able to remove your oil pan since you have a A4. M6's is impossible w/out removing the tranny.

 

yep mine was a4. and when i pulled it that's when i had a spin rod lol.

I'm still trying to figure out how the pan gasket got torn when replacing the rear main. The pan does not have to be touched. Maybe that was the "screwed up" part? :dontknow:

Only if the RMS housing needs to come off, does the pan have to be disturbed.

:lol: he said he screwed up, but he just didn't say how, maybe thats how he screwed up.

 

I had to remove the housing that holds the rear seal because where it mates to the block was leaking, that's how I broke the gasket. I already had the tranny out, I didn't even take the pan all the way down and was able to replace the gasket I just fished it down in the pan and then up over the pickup tube. It took me about 45 mins to fish the gasket in but I finally got it.
