I've got a 1998 Trans Am with an oil leak, and it's dripping out from the bottom of air conditioning (see red arrows in photo). Doesn't seem to be the usual culprits I'm familiar with on other cars (leaking from the valve covers up top, etc.) Any guess where it might be coming from? I'm assuming it's engine oil based on the color, but I've never seen an air compressor leak oil either.

If your ac compressor was leaking oil, it would also be leaking R134. So, does the ac work? One of those oil leak kits that has special uv dye and a black light might help you find the mystery leak.

Because car is driven mostly in forward direction, oil leaking from front of engine, top front, & front part of engine side that has ac compressor, could be source of your leak.

So clean up engine of spilled oil. Then use uv kit to trace where oil is leaking out.

Thanks, I'll do that - I have not used a UV dye oil leak kit before. The AC does work though.
