I just had my clutch replaced in my 1996 Firebird.
The mechanic said the oil leak is coming from the rear of the intake.
He said the oil would go directly from the manifold onto the clutch.
But the Bellhousing should not have any openings on the top?
Or am I wrong about the bellhousing?

He checked the rear main seal and said it was in perfect shape.
He said the leak is from the rear of the intake.
I do plan to change the intake gaskets this winter.
But want to be able to drive it for another few months and do not want any oil to ruin the new clutch.

My question is, if he checked the seal, why didn't he change it. With flywheel off it's only a bout a 10 minute job to change the seal.

main seals only leak when engine is running.
