Just got the drivers head off. Forgot what a PITA these things were to work on....

So the car had a massive head gasket leak. Ran pretty good considering it had a gaping whole in the intake elbow and the HG leak.... Had good oil pressure and didn't smoke on start up at all.

So I figured I'd see a nasty gasket blown, but I have really nice plug coloring on the drivers side. And really clean pistons for 104k miles and everything else filthy. What do you guys think? Did they just let water with no coolant sit too long?

Also the bolts on the lower part of the head were really easy to break while the center ones were a workout. Time to give up on this motor?

WOW!!! Pull it buddy. I don't know what could've caused that, but a fresh start might be better than polishing that one up. Good luck!

No I bought the car like this. I was OK with the driver side. But the passenger side resulted in this...the surface rust is catching a light finger nail :(
