Okay I pulled my motor and trans and my bellhousing was cracked almost all the way around. And need new trans, my question is do they have a certain year that there is a two piece 4l60 or 80 that'll bolt up? A was also thinking of the 700r4 but hear it robs you of hp

If you had it welded professionally with three or four beads then smoothed it out it should fix it permanently and save you some money.

There are changes made to the 4l60E almost every year. So while any 4l60E should bolt up, the internal changes will prevent the wrong year from working correctly.

I believe they went to the 2 piece bell housing in around 2001, but don't quote me on that.

The 4L80E is not a bolt it up and go operation. Ask our member mystery bird about the process.

Older 700r4 will bolt up but the change requires the addition of a tv cable for it to function correctly. And to tune out the automatic functions out of the pcm, if you don't want it throwing codes all the time.

That's not cracked that's sheared off, broken in half, separated. I have never seen that before. I still think that if it was welded properly it would be a permanent fix. You would it down the center then apply additional welds on the side of the first and build it up. This would be done on both sides. You should definitely look for a new one though if you have the money. What would cause this?

Nah it looks fine. Some RTV and crazy glue and you should be in the 12's! Add some light weight duck tape and watch out!!
