When removing the flexplate inspection cover on a fire bird v6 prior to pulling the trans out, the cover has studs on the base which appear to be welded in or press fit which go through the case, do I just pull the tranny back past the studs to detach the flexplate cover to expose the torq converter. The studs are pressed into the insp. cover and are fairly long. I'm afraid the torq. converter is going to come off the input shaft. The way I see it there is no other way to get to the flexplate converter bolts. Any help would be appreciated. Also the cooler lines. Is there a special tool available at the local auto parts to remove them at the trans.

Thanks.
