I have a 1994 Caprice cop car. I went through Lloyd Elliott I got the le2 heads ported and polished intake 58 millimeter Throttlebody. New push rods and lifters And voodoo roller rockers and cam all from lunati. Cam specs r advertise duration:276/296
36 pound fuel injectors. PCM for less tuning. 2500 stall converter. and 373 gear ratio positraction. drove the car for about 400 miles. then one day I decided to take it for a stroll the car started overheating which was funny because it always stayed at a hundred and eighty degrees
So I cut the heat on To cool the engine but the heater controls or the fan speed control stopped working all of a sudden??? then I started driving the car home watching the temperature gauge. the more I drove the less power I had.
Then the car started making a terrible noise a cherping noise that will not go away I think I
spun a bearing. I think my bad mistake was not rebuilding the bottom end of the motor. the car will still run it just makes that terrible sound. I was told it has 11.1 to 1 compression if anybody can give me any suggestions or information I would really really appreciate it thank u.

I believe you answered your own question when you said you should have rebuilt the bottom end.

But, next time you overheat, shut the car off. Do not drive it like that. There's nothing like overheating to kill a tried bottom end, or a new one for that matter if you go far enough with temp in the red.

Also if you switched to aluminum heads, your not out of the woods yet. I can almost guarantee a warped head or 2 in your future.
