i have a 96 t/a lt1 just got a full tune up (water pump and thermostat, fuel filter, wires plugs and the whole distributor thing) and i took my ride on the freeway and drove like i had stole it and suddenly the car started backfiring real loud like gunshots, so it left me stranded on the highway, got i towed back to the shop and they said my opti spark had melted inside i got it back today with a new optisparkand same thing happen drove all day on the street, until i got on the freeway same syptoms backfiring and stalling lucky me that made it home this time. . . . anybody has any ideas ??? before i took the car the for tune up it was fine, i just wanted to get everything new cause i just bought the car . . . by the way all the parts are from oreilly any help is greatly appreciatted

so are those generic distributor that bad that they melt???, i mean is that normal for the whole thing to melt on the inside???? so i also found out the previous owner had taken out the o2 sensors from the headers and he replaced it with a screw and weld it around, this car has been a nightmare so far had it 3 weeks and its been at the shop 2 and half . . .
