Couldn't get the pattern right. Pinion depth was too shallow and I was using no shims on the pinion support...aka it wouldn't go any deeper.

The 9" doesn't shim the pinion behind the bearing like in a normal housed rear. But, I think that's what's going to have to happen in this case.

I gave up and took it to a gear guy. It will be worth it to know its right.

Yes, the gears/center is at Tim's gear guy this week. The housing is painted and ready to go. Only thing left other than that is to get the bearings pressed onto the axles. I'll take those up to jeff's and borrow his press for that probably.
