The car has about 75K on it. It's a very stock SS with all the SS options. The only changes are the SLP Loudmouth and the intake airfoil. It's a 6-speed and I did put a clutch in it about 30K miles ago. It just doesn't seem as crisp as it once was. One factor is I live at an elevation of 7500' in Colorado and I know that saps a lot of power. It's fun to drive it at lower elevations Is there such a thing as tune for higher elevations? If there is I suspect that would mess me up at lower ones. I don't want to do plugs and certainly not an opti if not needed. I keep the air filter changed regularly.

If they haven't already been done, plugs can absolutely be robbing your engine of power. They are cheap, and a fairly easy to take care of.

If your optispark also has not been serviced, that can also cause issues. Even if the electronic components are in good shape, there is a physical cap and rotor that needs attention. The rotor its self can also pull the mounting screws out. This will cause things to not work.

Now, as far as elevation goes, there is only so much you can do with the air at 7500 feet. Your car does have a Mass Airflow Sensor, and between that and the O2 sensors, your PCM should be able to adjust fueling based on the available air.

Here is an odd question. How far in elevation do you need to drop before it feels peppy? I am in Colorado Springs, and my 97 Formula runs pretty well, but I also stay around the area. The car hasn't seen a ton of elevation changes for me to notice this on mine.
