how noisy is a walbro 255 really supposed to be?

i noticed it makes a pretty damn loud high pitched whining noise, even when the tank is fairly full.. but then again, the trap door isnt installed yet.. so it's just a hole

think it might be dying?

Having no trap door to cover hole increases noise significantly. When I installed a stock pump in my 90 dd, the noise was terrible until I put the trap door back on. With everything buttoned down as it should be, I can hear my pump during key on prime but not if car is running.

Usually there's no warning, your car just doesn't start one morning.

haha ok you're right. my fuel pressure is really good across the board, so i guess i should stop being so paranoid. i did push a couple pounds of tank sludge through this poor pump, so im sure it wont live forever, but at least i have a trap door so changing it is a 15 minute job now instead of a whole weekend.
