01 Formula. Got it back from the paint shop last month, it had been there almost 1 year. Drove it home, no problems. Drove it again, no problems. Then, last weekend, went to start it, hard crank, a couple of times, but then it started. Made it out of the driveway and started around the block and it would die on me when pushing the accelerator pedal. Bogging, stalling. Barely made it back to the house. Just checked the pressure at the rail, pushed schrader valve and nothing came out but a small hiss of air. Hooked up the test gauge and turned key on. Pump came on, gauge didn't move. Removed gauge, pressed schrader valve, nothing. I'm thinking the pump has given out. It had a full tank of gas when I dropped the car off at the paint shop. Total trip mileage shown was less than 80, so of course it wasn't driven while there. Might it be something else?

That sounds almost exactly like what happened in my 97 Formula when the pump died. These cars are pretty infamous for eating fuel pumps if they sit too long.

Sounds like the pump its self is trying to work, but the lines that feed and return the fuel have worn out, or disconnected. I would plan on dropping the tank, if you have not added an access hatch.

Good luck! Certainly not the worst job to do, but also not the easiest.

Yes, I put in an access hatch years ago. I also ordered a new, inline filter, so I will replace that and observe how much fuel comes out. The pump itself is a Racetronics unit and its been in the car nearly 10 years.
