I hope this is the correct area on the forum to ask this question, I wouldn't even be asking it but I can't find ANY information anywhere about this. Ok, so long story short a guy I work with said that GM put "spare" or "leftover" (or whatever it was he said) DZ 302s in the 1970 Camaros, is this true? Or was he just feeding me BS? I think he was just BSing me, but hey if he wasn't that'd be pretty awesome.

I think maybe the confusion is because 70 & 1/2 camaro second gen wasn't introduced until spring of 1970. So from October of 1969, when other 1970 models were introduced , some Chevy dealers sold left over 69 camaros as 1970 models. This was until the 70 & 1/2 model was sold.

Don't think Chevy put the 302 in the 2nd gen. Any left over 302 engines would have been sold as spare parts. Which is logical since GM makes much more money selling spare parts than whole cars.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
