I am putting a 96 Z28 back together. It had the engine partially installed and some things were missing or loose (in boxes/bags). I have the k-member out, and I noticed the vent tube sitting on the back of the t56 transmission, not hooked up to anything.

Does this need to connect to a vacuum line, or does it just sit freely and vent pressure?

I don't have a T56, but am pretty sure there is no vacuum line to it.

Only hook a vacuum line to the vent if you want to suck oil into engine. The auto trans has a similar tube on it that looks like it's a vacuum connection, but it's not either.

No...! Don't hook a vacuum line to the T56 vent (or any other transmission vent for that matter). Like Coco said, you'll suck transmission oil into the engine.

the "tube" is a vent line. should have a plastic cap on it that allows it to vent. I assume without the cap it would look like a hose would hook up...but don't hook it to one.
