So my lt1 has a horrible dead spot from 35-40mph where at WOT it only kicks up to 3k rpm

Any suggestions on how I should fix it

Pretty sure you're better off leaving it, as mine does the same thing. You can always change the shift points, but I think it would be more harm than good. The transmission will shift from 1->2 at 42mph I believe (for 3.23 gears) so if you downshift to first you'll be in first gear for only 5 mph give or take. Then have to upshift right away. At least that's how I view it. It's just a waste of time to go down to 1st for such a short time when 3k rpm is where your power should be starting to build up instead of around 5500 or so in first

Hey man, I have a 95 T/A LT1 Just like yours. Pretty much Bone stock. Its an Automatic. If I gun it at 40 it doesnt down shift it just stays in 2nd and Pulls and pulls until 90-94 then switches into third. I have personally tested switching down to the first, but the only thing i got out of it was, 7 more mph with tire spin, I doubt it even picked up faster then just leaving it in second to begin with. And by the way, thats a very nice t/a you have!

It's a common thing with 4l60s and 4l60Es, way back I had a caprice with a lightly modded 350 in it with a 4l60 and i had that same dead spot, punch it at 35-40 mph and it seems like its not working as good as it should, got my camaro, same bland downshift except in the camaro it moves a little faster haha, but punching it at 25mph is loads of fun

If you wanna correct it I recommend a shift kit to firm it up a little so it will at least feel better, also a high stall torque converter would help too
Agreed!!!
