I usually approach my driveway extremely slow due to the part where the street connects to the sidewalk in front of my driveway.

Lately I've been noticing a "pop" or "clunk" just once when I cross that threshold.

I confirmed that I am not hitting something so I know it's not a clearance issue between the car and the road.

Any idea what I should be looking at? Car rides/drives great otherwise.

Start with checking exhaust system rubber mounts. Bad ones can make exhaust pipes clunk against car. Next move on to any part of rear suspension that has rubber bushings.

Bad u-joint on drive shaft could clunk when extreme angles are involved, such as when you pull off road into your driveway.

Moving forward, believe it or not, front suspension noises can seem like they are coming from front. So check anything up there with rubber bushings. To help you with diagrams, go to following link and download the 96 service manual that is closest to your 97 car. My Files

Also shoebox site has much good 93-97 info. shbox.com
