Built T-56

How necessary is a built T-56? Is there a certain power level?

What type of options should I look for, like billet slider keys? What do those actually help?

Would it be worthwhile to just drop my tranny and throw a hardened output shaft in there when I do my 12-bolt?

TTT.

I want to know how much HP a stock T56 can take. on ET streets and a strong rear, at what point are you breaking tranny parts and twisting output shafts, etc?
well it all depends on how ya shift it. if you are power shifting it with all the billlet parts you will break cases. ive seen it happen in a turbo lt1 t/a hed rather rebuild the stock insides reguraly then put new cases in it.

Stock T-56's can put up with quite a bit. I'm going to be getting a built one soon, but I'll also be around 750rwhp on spray.
Well I guess we'll find out. Getting used ET streets soon and a line lock kit. I think with low enough pressure the squat in the ETs will soften the hit some.

Might stick to 4000rpm dumps just to be sure. I have a buddy that twisted his output shaft doing 5K dumps on ETs...McLeod ST and 12 bolt rear. He had a bit more HP than me though (400rwhp).
You should be able to launch up there with out a problem.

And you'll like the line lock, it makes everything so easy.
Well my footwork sucks balls, so I need help somehow with the burnout, etc.

I think my buddy had a really hi-perf driveshaft...on my stocker the input yoke splines are already a little bent, so my guess it that the DS will go before anything in the trans.
My footwork sucked too. My feet are too big (size 12) to do a 3 pedal burnout properly.

Then grab a new driveshaft. Denny's should do the trick and it's alot cheaper than new trans.
I was actually looking at the Strange Steel DS that Billingsley sells for $300. Its a bargain compared to the others and should hold all I'm planning to throw at the car for the near future.
Oh yeah, I forgot you're not spraying it. Then that one will do just fine.

Don't wuss out on your launches... Cases like that happen very rarely and usually are caused by too short driveshafts. The output shaft can handle your dumps if your DS is right.
Heard there was a rebuild available through Chrysler (Viper) for the T56 to make it bullet-proof!?!?!?!
Wow those ET's really that badass there twisting components ?? now im interested in em .. beforehand .. i was just gunna phoneix Drag slick it in the rear .. but hey if the ET's hook like ya say .. whats the point ?

On the street the new ET Street radials hook better than the ET Drag.
