Okay guys my friend has a 02 Z28 he visits the road course occasionally and hes pretty rough on tires in general. Right now he has 17in 10spoke SS wheels with 275 Eagle F1s(GS-D3 maybe)(treadwear 300) all the way around. His dad has a very extensively modded 02 with 315 BFG KDs(i may be wrong)(treadwear 200) Thoses tires grip so well on his dads car its ridiculous. Now heres his dilema. He needs some new tires and he cant decide which ones. The 275 BFGs or more 275 F1s. Do you think the extra grip provided by the BFGs would be worth the extra investment and loss of longevity.

i guess a second set of rims is out of the question? if he wants to be consistant and competitive on the track, id go with the BFGs, but he could also look into the Nitto 555(or it might be the 555r, which ever one is the road race one).

his dad has 2 sets of ZR1 wheels. One has Hoosiers for Auto-xing, and the other has BFGs for the Street. Now just recently his dad finished his custom front end and fenders and put 315s up front to. So now his dad has 2 front 275 Zr1 wheels with BFGs and 2 front 275 Zr1 wheels with Hoosiers. My friend will probably get this set of Zr1 wheels and he was trying to figure out which set of wheels he should mount the new tires on.(His car is pewter and has a 1 inch drop) What would you suggest, 17 inch ZR1s or 17 inch 10 spoke SS wheels. He only wants to have 1 set of tires because hes a little pressed for money and he doesnt visit the track often enough to justify the purchase of a different set of tires strictly for track use.

since he is not a big racer, id go with it geared more for the street, as in what last longer. with the prices of tires, he might want to look at something like the fuzions or something. go on tirerack and search, there are a lot of options for a 275/40/17 for a wide variety of prices
