A friend of mine has a

98 Chevy Z71 5.7
Hard to start but starts right up with jumper cables (battery is fully charged) and stumbling / misfiring under acceleration

Fuel pressure 60 to 65 psi

Shop has replaced:
new cam sensor, new crank sensor, new rotary button, new spider

Check engine light was on when problem began but has been cleared and all codes corrected

Any Ideas?

hmm......

- needs jumper cables to start
- battery is good

my initial diagnosis would be loose battery cables or grounds.

try running jumper wires from alt to battery positive to positive junction block and starter, and jumper grounds from battery to alternator bracket to chassis.

if the situation improves and it's easier to start, remove jumpers one by one till it acts up, then you'll have a good idea of which wire is broken.

what steveo said plus something very simple. go down to the starter and give all the wires a good tug to see if any fall apart. corrosion inside the insulation that cannot be seen breaks the wires down.
