1997 Buick Ultra

Hello guys...Im new here also.. Im not even sure if im at the right place that people can help me..if not maybe i can get advice where to go and get advice.
We have a local dirt track near my house...I have a 97 buick ultra 3.8 supercharged. (new car) last year we had a corsica 3.4.
This car is faster but when i come on to it, it doesnt take long to go into over drive...I need to stay in 2nd or 3rd during the whole race. How do i keep it in these speeds??? or any advice where i can get adive?:craz28:
