Hello i just got a firebird all stock a couple weeks ago. And dont really know much about them. Can anyone give me some information on them. Like the stock rear end ratio. Little things to do to make a little more horsepower. Thanks. I appreciate it !

they're around 200hp at the flywheel. your rear end ratio depends on whether its automatic or manual.

you can edge a bit more power out of it, start with a higher flowing cold air intake, and a catback. unfortauntely because they dont move a ton of air, you aren't going to see a big gain from these things. also dont go too big on exhaust. big exhaust on little engines costs you torque

if you wanted to push it a bit further, you could throw a mild cam, springs, and rockers into it. would cost you in the $500 range if you do the work yourself, and you'd be pretty happy with it for a daily driver, i bet

weight reduction helps a lot too, that engine in a lighter car would be fast as hell. find ways to slice some pounds off without weakening your car.
Wipers

So i just went to buy wiper blades and apparently the 95 firebird takes a special wiper? And i couldnt get any
if by 'special' you mean only every single friggn f-body for 5 straight years then sure, it's special... try another store

every crappy chain parts store where i live has 'em..
The guy at autozone said it was special. I did not know cuz i just got the car. Plus my temperature gauge stays below the first line unles it sits for a bit. And my oil pressure moves up and down. Sorry didnt know
I also noticed the idle is not always the same its up and its down. Sorry to ask so many questions. I just dont know anything about firebirds. And the temperature gauge doesnt go above the first line when it warms up. Unless it sits for a few minutes then it goes it past the first line about halfway then when i start driving again it goes back to the same spot
Great job man! Welcome to the F-body family! I like the v-6 just as much as v-8 nice choice, nice car. upload some pics on ur profile at some point so i can see your awesome new ride!

And about your temp guage fluctuating, It could have a 160 degree thermo put in it and when you start driving air goes underneath the car hits that long black thing (as you would describe it) and goes up into the engine and cools it back down. At idle (Unless the fans are on) The temperature will go up 10-20 degree's thats normal. Happens to me everyday.

I dont have a favorite parts store but i bought my windshield wipers at o reillys. I belive i spent 25.00 for both NEW. So that wasnt to bad in my opinion. I just bought them a few weeks ago too. Strange how windshield wipers are a pain to get off and on lol

And not all cars show your oil psi. These do. So i would imagine that when you hit the gas your oil pressure goes up, and when you let off your oil pressure goes back down. that's normal. (As long as it doesnt get in that red) And im sure when you cold start it that your oil pressure is very high, that's okay as well. If you want to make sure its accurate grab an oil psi guage and check it out, or just leave it alone.

And about the cam, cold air intake and exhaust part, I agree 100% with steveo, you will like that car alot more with a few mods. Seveo know's his stuff.

And feel free to throw any questions you have on here. Im 105% sure any body will be very happy to assist you in any way they can.

I went to Autozone to get some wipers for my Formula and they said the same thing. They don't show up in the system. Just go out to your car and take one off and take it back in and find the right one in the store. I can't remember but I think the Bosch ones are like A21 or something like that. Ridiculous that autozone can't even put them in their system.

The early models had a reverse j chanel hook. J think they changed it in 97 or 98. NAPA had to order mine. Don't remember the number...

Thats the 1st problem goin to chinazone i go to napa or oreileys im sure All that stuff is from china but napa use to always have the better quality stuff
Let's start off your firebird learning experience by directing you to some valuable resources. In the sticky threads of the 4th gen section you will find the 4th gen parts books and factory service manuals.

Since we don't have the 95 service manual, I suggest downloading the 94. It shares about 97% of info with your 95. Also download the 96 manual. It will have the 3.8 v-6 info you need.

The 94 models only had the 3.4 v6. The 3.8 v6 became available later in the 95 model year.

And welcome to the forum.

That is true but almost every set of wipers you buy today come with 3 or 4 little attachments to make them work with different types of wiper arms. I have a 96 and a 94 and I never had an issue walking into a parts store and grabbing wipers other than the time I got lazy and asked the guy to get them for me. That's when I got the "Special" story. So, I went back there and found the set that fit. Idiots work at some of these stores.
