I've spent the last 5 years refreshing my 1977 corvette. The most impressive part is the install of a 1992 Corvette LT1/700R4.
Yes it is. With the few mods I made I'm guessing it's closer to 330 hp. With the overdrive it's going to make a great road car.Yes, impressive. The 77 corvette was less than inspiring with it's 165 hp. Even the L82 option, only produced 215 hp. So 300 hp from a corvette LT1 must be a blast to drive.
If you can find corvette accessory brackets the AC compressor sits on the top left of the engine allowing for an easy install. The 700R4 slipped in fine but the trans mount will be a trick. I custom built mine and had to move the exhaust cutouts to accommodate the wider transmission pan. I had a trans. shop modify the tail shaft to allow me to use my original speedometer and also have a speed sensor for the PCM.Very nice. I'm currently working on installing a 94 Camaro LT1 with 4L60E into a 69 vette. Did you have any trouble getting the 700r4 to fit? Were you able to retain the air conditioning?
