I purchase a 1962 Chevrolet C20 with a 402 Big Block that now has a knock. I am looking to see if there are any recommendations to move on (could get a SBC 400) or put it in the shop.

Here's a short with 16 seconds, if you want to put your ear on it. Every opinion is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

With a knock, the crankshaft should need replacing. Weather parts are readily available for a 50 + year old big block, I can't say. But unlike the 400 sbc, the big block has much more low end grunt.

I believe rebuild the 402 would make a good engine, and a little piece of history while your at it.
