01 firebird 3800 5 speed low pedal?

I've owned a couple of ls1 and lt1 cars with the t-56 and soon will be owning my first v-6 firebird with a 5 speed in it. I've noticed that the clutch pedal is closer to the floor on this car, but work fine. My question is, is this the way the t-5 v-6 cars are? the car is a 2001 just over 100k on the odometer black on black. Also I've noticed the shifter is sloppy. Could this be the shifter or the internals of the trans, All 100k miles worth,? any thoughts are much appreciated .
