random mis fire

Ever since I installed my AS&M mid length headers I've gotten code 300 random miss fire. Spark Plugs are brand new. Plug wires are all secured on the plugs. I have no idea what could be causing this. My back two 02's are still not plugged in because I'm waiting for my 02 simulators. Could that cause the random miss fire? Please help, car is a 97 m6 with 78k on it.

No the rear o2's will not cause it. They have nothing to do with timing. Check for burnt wires.

no wires are burnt. Could the two front 02's be fouled out?

Its possible but you would usually get a DTC if they were completely shot. Let me ponder this.

What wires do you have on there? Go start it and let it warm up. Open the hood in the dark with it idling and see if you can see any wires arching.

It's quite possible that you could have a bad wire out of the box too... I've had that happen before... Took me forever to figure that out. If you can get ahold of a laser thermometer, try each header primary and when you find one colder than the rest, you've narrowed it down to one cylider. You should also check your injectors, that will cause a misfire too, although it won't have anything to do with the headers...

You get a bid wire when you don't proofread your posts....

Well I checked the plugs at night and one was arcing pretty bad on the drivers side. I ordered some Accel plug wires. I have to route them over the headers and not the factory routing due to the mid length headers correct?
