Difference between Trans Am & Trans Am GT

I am just curious how to tell the difference between a Trans
Am and a Trans Am GT. I googled the hell out of it and can't seem to find an answer. I would assume it is just different trim. Are they badged with a GT badge?

I think the GT was only offered in 94, but may have been 95 also. The deal was this:

The Trans Am in 93 was deemed too pricey, so for 94 they changed the regular Trans Am to have cloth seats and the cheaper formula spoiler. So to get what in '93 was just a "Trans Am", meaning the leather and the tall spoiler, you had to actually get a Trans Am GT.

It didn't last long, and they later dropped the lower model and returned the "GT" to just plain Trans Am again.

I sort of though at the time that "Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GT" was a bit of a mouthful.

A GT is just a TA w/ all the bells and whistles pretty much. A full option TA.

Right. I think you could still get leather on the non-GT, it was just an extra-cost option. The "GT" had all the options included already.

I have a '95 that I believe has all the options...I still have the Window sticker for it...and there's no mention of GT on there. I believe that the GT ended in '94.

Best way to find out is from your insurance company. Seems the "GT" adds about twenty dollars a month.

I have a 94 "GT" and I was under the impression it was just the raised spoiler. I don't have leather interior but the lady I bought it from said she special ordered it. I don't know, I have the origional window sticker somewhere, just a matter of hunting it up.

You know, I always wondered about that too. I do know that the "GT" was on on 94 models. Reckon that will make it more valuable in, say 30 more years?

I have a 94' GT but you would think there was a "GT badge" so to speak on the car somewhere! As far as value, I for one would like to see these cars go up in value like the 1st and 2nd gen cars have!

Did you check the RPO codes in the glove box for the hatch option? Not sure what it is but hopefully someone will chime in that does.
