Smoked a Prowler.
My first ever run in with a Prowler. All I can say is wow.
School gets out and I hear from one of my friends as im walking up to my car that some kid decided to drive in a prestine condition Prowler. I've never looked at performance specs or anything on these cars before much less looked under the hood. The only time i've ever seen one is when they drive by. Anyway, I leave with 2 of the schools V6 Camaro guys following when I notice this street rod looking car pulling out in front of the car in front of me. The prowler. . The car in front of me decides to park and we get behind the prowler kid, I goose it in neutral to get his attention and he plays it cool up to my favorite spot. My buddies in the camaro's are behind us when this guy rolls down the window and says "I was hoping i'd get a run against that thing." im like "Yea, never run against one of these before, who knows what will happen." Anyway, I decide for the first time ever to load up the torque converter for the launch. Light goes green and its like every other time when i've taken off. (I swear im probably gonna burn holes in that stop stripe. lol) He gets a jump on me since my grip is absolute zero, but I finally get grip and start reeling him in. About an 1/8th mile (maybe more just a guess tho) he is 2 car lengths or so behind me and im still pulling. Its been over a 1/4 and he finally lets off. I stop at the next light wondering how the hell I just won against that car. "I don't understand, my car is a hell of alot lighter than yours is!" "Yea, but what kind of motor do you have in there?" "The stock V6, whatever I'll bring my dads viper next time." And he takes off, with me trying not to laugh heading home.
Anyone else ever run into one of those things before? This being my first experience with one kinda shocked me how pathetic it was.

Yah they are weak. I had a run in in with one in my brothers friend's car. This actually ran good though, I think it may have been a hennessey car.

They are just naturally asperated little v-6's,,,they don't excite me much. They are more of a cruiser. Chysler should have built those cars with V-8's, then they would have had something.

I checked the performance numbers last night and I was surprised to see how weak they are. He had to have something else helping him to keep up with me like he did. Whatever, everyone was like "Dood that thing is gonna smoke ur car!" Guess not. lol

thats the whole reason they didnt last longer than 3 years. it was/is a great looking car! but the performance is not there. if they would have offered a v-8 it would have been awesome, but with any niche car...it cant last forever. just like the chevy SSR. the prowler was my favorite car when it came out. ive seen one in houston with a novi centrifugal supercharger on it and a lot of work done to it. it was pretty sweet.

whoa there. watch those deep 11's. damn pt cruisers are decieving now adays. they should have just figured out a way to cram the srt10 motor in the prowlers. now THAT would have made for a sweeeet race! ill let you guys know if i find any cruisers that spank the Z28 around here. doubtful, but the only thing i can think of is that 449 ci ZO6, one SRT4, and the new ZO6s and vipers (anyone see the redesigned viper motor? 8.4 litres with new heads and airbox etc? 600 hp now.)

hahaha screw vipers... give me another 3 months and another turbo and i will beat the new ones haha.
but prowlers are FUBAR!
and you should ask him if he owns any car that will beat yours... daddys doesnt count because i cna always go to my grandmothers ex husband whos a master mechanice for team porsche and always grab a 10 second 911.
and then the neighbors got a supercharged warrior that does like 8's so jsut because u can drive the car doesnt matter... its all about your own work to your OWN car that makes it all worth while

Turns out the prowler is just one of his dads toys. I guess the guy is rich or some bs. Cars in his garage: New Z06, Ferrari 360 Modena, Hennessey Viper (holy hell), and the Prowler. Thats just the toys. He said his dad is looking at buying him a Roush Stang (Gag me please). Basically he's one of these spoiled kids that know about cars based on what the sales people tell them and what the price tags are.

that sad part is that the hennesy viper probibly woulod still get beat by some lowly modded triple rotary rx-7......and the viper is the only one out of his garage id be caught driving...and even then itd be to the enarest dealerhsip to hawk just so i could go build a 4 banger to smoke vipers with.
hahah where ar eyou at? tell him some kid in a ricer wants to race him for pink slips and will giv ehim a head start.
just give me a bottle and i bet my eclipse beats him... just it wont survive n e thing passed 1/4
