Default LT1 in a kit car

I'm going to be using a '97 LT1 w/T56 in my 1600 lbs Lotus 7 kit. Been reading up on what is needed to get this engine working outside of an F-body. So far I've determined that I'm going to need to have the harness reworked and/or an aftermarket harness purchased like those from TPIS or Painless to remove the emissions stuff. VATS needs to be bypassed.

Anything else I might want to be aware of? I read somewhere that I'll need a pulley or something to delete aircon?

Aside from Painless and TPIS are there any other makers of LT1 harnesses out there?

Anything else I should be aware of?

TPIparts.net actually has the interior wiring harness that lets you hook up to your PCM and scan any trouble codes and also makes it really easy to put a LT1 into virtually any vehicle.
http://tpiparts.net/93_02_wiring

The pulley bolts onto the accessory bracket where the a/c compressor once resided. If your not using power steering or mounting the alternator on the acessory bracket then you won't need the pulley. But if your going to keep using the accessory bracket then the GM AC delete pulley # is GM# 10115875

Hope this helps

TPIparts seems to require the stock harness too. That's the thing, I don't have the stock harness. So I'd need to find the stock harness AND buy this, correct?

Thanks for the info on the accessory bracket, I'll fab my own up as all I'm using is the alternator.

A buddy was suggesting I get an ODB-1 computer rather than the ODB-2 for the '97 engine. Any pros/cons either way? Anything special I would need to do?

I must admit that the amount of data ODB-2 generates will be nice to have.

Yeah your going to need a factory harness to make that interior harness work for you. Personally...the OBDII has to many things on it for my liking. I like stuff basic which is why i stick to OBDI, i have all three a 93, 94 and 95. But the diagnostic stuff is amazing for the OBDII.

To swap harnesses your going to need a OBDI knock sensor, somehow plug the crank positioning sensor hole on the timing cover or just leave it unplugged (but sometimes they leak) And if you don't use a 95 wiring harness your going to need to resuse your opti harness. It all depends on what you call factory harness but the opti harness actually goes w/ the opti and they're all interchangable at that part, its the plug that plugs into the opti on the opti harness that makes them different. Thats all I can think of at the moment.
