I would have to disagree with this, the 2 are completely different in the way they would affect the charging system. As soon as a capacitor reacts to the load it has to recharge and also has substantially less reserve than an additional battery. A battery on the other hand acts like several rows of caps. Cost for cost a bettery is not only the best method but also the most cost effective. That is if it is wired correctly, I always suggest 0 gauge wire between the batteries and properly fused at both ends. You also get more playing time when the car is not running.
Caps might look cool to some but unless you are going to run a bank of them or shell out the money for multiple caps, your better off with a second battery if you are looking for overall performance and cost.

you only need a second battery for going extreme, dont get me wrong they would help but for 2200 watts it isnt needed. in a older car i use to have i ran 2 1800 watt amps 1 420 watt amp an a cap. along with a distro. block an my lights didnt even dim. an it was one of the loudest systems i ever heard. you gotta think about it an extra battery in a fbody is alot of unwanted weight. the speakers an amps are plenty. i have a custom box with 2 12'' jl w6's, 3 amps an the weight was rediculos. i run eibach springs an if i had a passenger an hit a bump my back tires would scrap. not to mention it slowed me down alot! so i had to re-think my whole system, an i did an went a differnt route.

I've had 4000W Rms systems on stock alternators. Just match a farad (capacitor) for every thousand watts of RMS and upgrade to a better battery and you'll be fine
