I personally run SPEC products in my car, have loved em every step of the way. spec stage2 ought to do you just fine for that power level but id give em a call or look online

I drove a firebird a while back with the new RAM muscle car series clutch and liked the feel of it. It has a stock feel. I will be tuning into this thread also, cause I need a clutch too.

to be honest it was freakin butter man, that stage 2 was the best clutch ive ever run before my current setup, I run a 3+ right now, moved over to an aluminum flywheel and needed somethign a little more slip tolerant. but yeah if money is no object the 3+ is awesome too, I have nothing but good things ot say about the spec stuff. Also have heard great stuff abotu the 2+ but havent personally run one.

well with any kind of racing, or even performance driving, what is it other than an acceleration competition? And an aluminum flywheel allows you to get into your powerband faster, and spin up more quickly while in that powerband. and also reducing the mass of your rotating assembly is a quick way of freeing up horsepower, you gain a little actual power but it makes the power you do have more accessable while driving.

Personally, I love mine, yeah flywheels are about 420 new, but look on ebayand craigslist, ive seen a lot of new in box or gently used ones going for really really cheap. I've not noticed any downside, if youre good with foot control I can still leave a light without using the gas at all, it works great for me, onyl thing youll notice is that you gotta watch rpm a little more cause youll get to redline a lot faster and also watch your speedometer more too cause i find myself at 80 faster, and the car isnt working as hard so it feels like im going slower. and onyl down side is, you dont get them cut when you replace your clutch, you replace a steel insert on the flywheel and those are usualyl more expensive than getting a wheel machined, but its usually only another 50 bucks every 40-50k miles, so IMO its worth it. Also nice thing is the friction surface and the starter teeth are removable so it makes the entire flywheel rebuildable if somethgin happens to it, you dont have to replace the entire thing. Also, some people do experience a sligth slow down on the quarter mile, usually when runnign drag radials without having a bigger torque motor, but even my motor at only 350ft/lbs has actualyl sped up on the 1/4, partially cause i can leave the line at over 4k on street tires now, with slicks i can launch even higher. just go with a spec ram or fidanza, or some other reputable manufacturer, cause some dont balance well, or they make them too light for street use then you start stallign easily or things like that, but those 3 companies make a great product.
