Is this going to be a gen3 LT1? Why can't they come up with some name that's new and exciting?

They recognize the LT1 as being superior to the LS1 that's why it's coming back. :lol:

Its more related to an LS3 than it is related to any previous variation of the LT1.

IMO, GM needs to quit making things confusing and reusing engine designations. Someone pulls up in a 70 Z28 and says they have a LT1..... Ok, which one of the 3? Hey GM, use the LT designation all you want, but there are other numbers!!!!!
Seeing people getting giddy about seeing an LT1 that is nothing like their LT1 just promotes this marketing ploy. Just keep in mind, this one doesn't make your opti LT1 any faster. It'll more likely get less respect than than it does now. You'll hear things like, "Oh its just one of those LT1's." ;)

Reverse flow cooling? If it is then it can be called an lt1, but if not then its just a new v8

They're saying 99% new components, so I wonder how much it actually will have in common with the LS, but the DOD and CVVT look to be much like the L99 in the automatic Camaro SS.

Perhaps the "LT1" rpo will become the code for the last of a series of engines, being that the gen II was really the last of the SBC, dimensionally speaking.

The original Lt1 didn't have reverse flow cooling. :D
