Looking at new headers

Looking for new longtube headers to replace some mid-length pacesetters with flanges bent by an exhaust shop. So far Im leaning towards the MAC's. Anyone use these? Any ideas on better options? I don't want to go cheap again but don't want to break the bank on headers.

Talk to John at Texas Speed. He sold me a set of Pacesetter longtubes for $306 I think. It was close and there was no way anyone could be his prices. Just call and talk to him and see what he can do for you. My headers were the armour coated race version. They look really nice and well made.

$306 is a really good price for the armor coated ones. I paid $242 for my painted Pacesetter long tubes off of a pacesetter vender on eBay

it's worth the extra money for ceramic coated headers, whatever you buy..

the drop in radiated heat in the engine bay is huge, you can almost touch ceramic headers after a short drive

Viper, I looked and looked for these and couldn't find them anywhere. I thought stainless for longevity. So I got the armour coated Pacesetters. I'm doing a budget build!!!! But considering the lower underhood temps with coated ( I know not much) it was a good buy for me. Now if they would make Stainless Steel headers with ceramic coating inside......

Is LPP selling LT LT1 headers again? might check them out. I didn't know that Texas Speed offered the Stainless headers for the 93-97 Fbodies..If they do, that is an option. Otherwise, look for someone selling Kooks used. I've seen some for 600 or so, don't know your budget :/

I have a 383 lt1 and would like something different than my shorty headers but in Texas I need to make sure it passes emissions etc. Is there one with a good fit and good clearance from the ground?

USMC or others that buy stainless no rust just add header wrap copper gaskets and spark plug wire/boot insulators. Also if muffler under gasktank, use header wrap to reduce gasoline percolation during hot summers. People run cold air intakes you can also insulate the fuel line and or shield the tank from heat to create a colder denser intake charge.

Viper I agree with you, however, although header wrap is a very good insulator for headers it is at the same time a destroyer of metal and or armour/ ceramic coatings. It retains moisture and holds it against the headers thus causing reactions that reduce the ceramic coating to dust. This said you must soak it in the waterproof crap they sell and allow it to dry before you install it. I used it for my shorties and when I took my headers off to replace with LT I noticed what the wrap did.I would say just create a heat shield to guard against temps that reach the hood or create air vents to cool the engine bay better. Thats what I am doing. But to each their own.
