Default Lt1 Engine.2k to spend. Best bang for buck.

Hi everyone. I have a 95 z28 that is mainly strip/weekend driver. I had the engine built around 2 years and now im looking to improve the power somewhat . I will try and list all engine specs and am looking for advise from some experienced ltx builders in what things I can improve on. I have around 2k to spend and would rather not change heads.Am open to portwork however. Interested in what I can do to this engine or have done to maximize hp and tq for my budget. Car has been tuned multiple times and runs great. Last car dyno made 429whp@ 6500 and 403tq @3700

Bottom end- Eagle 4340 Forged steel 3.75 stroke. Eagle 6" rods forged, SRP forged pistons 11:1 .030 overbore, melling hv oil pump, All arp hardware, balanced. Meziere 55gph water pump. Regular sbc double roller timing chain with wp drive removed.

Valvetrain- Gm847 cam, Comp cam pro mag 1.6 rockers, arp bolts guideplates and rocker studs. Beehive springs.

Top end- AFR 195cc Lt4 competition port cnc heads. 2.05I 1.6E. 58cc. Bolted on out of box. BBk power plus 52mm tb. Unported. LT4 intake with 42lb lucas injectors. Intake in stock form unported. Granatelli MAF, moroso cai. ARP head studs.

MISC- Walbro 255, Th400 with 4k stall and brake, msd ignition, 8.8 31 spline rear with 4.10. Hooker long tubes. 28 mt et streets.

And please everyone Im not interested in nitrous or boost. Also dont want to pull engine from car. Thanks for reading and any advise will be appreciated!

If it was mine I would change out the 847 and get a custom cam more in tune with your mods. I assume you already have 1.6 RR and good valve springs? Also, some mods to the suspension, I don't see any mentioned. Do you know what your quench is? You can work on that if it's too large.

Suspension mods include, lakewood 90/10 front struts on eibach pro springs. Rear has new moog factory style springs with hose mod and comp eng. drag shocks. Front sway bar removed. Sphoon tq arm. Lakewood lcas. Stock rear sway bar for now until I find one that will work with this 8.8.

As far as quench I have no clue. Also I listed the 1.6rr on intial post.
Thanks and feel free to ask lots of questions

Assuming you have a zero deck and are running a .040" head gasket, you should be a shade under 12:1 with 58cc chambers. I'd want a touch more than that with an 847 cam (or equivalent). I built my 396 with about 12.25:1 with that same cam. 56cc's would bring you up a touch, and would be easy to accomplish just by milling them .012" or so.

If you're looking for more from your current bottom end (which is a good one, BTW), you're probably going to want more camshaft than the 847. Those heads should hang pretty well with some more cam, so maybe a little port work on them, but nothing major. There are several guys on here running a Comp 242/248 on a 110 LSA with good results. If you wanted to stay with a hydraulic cam, that would be a good option. Or, you could go with a solid roller if you really want into some aggressive lobes. Those AFR's like lift, too, so if you've got the springs for it, you can get the lift up into the low .6xx's.

What type of hp increase do you guys think I would see with having the intake and heads ported and going to a custom grind cam?

You have a significantly modded car THAT'S RUNNING RIGHT.

Good Job !

I didn't mention porting on the heads because in you description says competition CNC port already.
What about getting rid of the opti for the 24x system?
