LT1 PCM Tuning - Welcome! and PCMforless do mail order tuning. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe both will do the send them the pcm in the mail or they will lend you a cable and software so you can load the tune they figure out, yourself. Anyway, contact them and find out.

Here's another tuner members use. www.madtuner.com

I started years ago with Madtuner. Car ran great, after tuning it myself I pickup an extra 2 tenths at the track. Most mail order tunes run a bit rich but you can't blame them for doing so.

I went mail order at first, and found it can miss simple things. My car was low on power for being a cam only ls1. I finally decided to get a local tune and the TB only opening 85% was one of the first things he noticed. He could also see it was going lean at WOT. It was a fuel filter issue. Filter wasn't but a few months old either.

I don't blame the mail order tune because it is a tune based on assumptions instead of live data. It is what it is.

'93's use a piggyback chip. After you recieve the first tune just datalog the car and send the chip back for corrections. I used Alvin at pcmforless myself. They have some equipment so you can tune yourself if you prefer for around $350 or so.

Just like LT1-XJS said the 93's use a chip that piggybacks the factory chip.

I also used Alvin from PCMforless after I did my headers/160 stat change on my 1993 LT1 Firehawk. The car runs excellent and cooler since the mail order tune. I got my tune for 100 bucks as it was when they were doing a holiday sale. The cool thing about PCMForless is that all mods that I do in the future that require tuning will only cost me 50 bucks. All I have to do is send in my piggyback chip, along with my changes(cam/heads,injectors) and he will retune the chip and send it back to me.

I am very pleased with there work

i know some of you said mail order tuned run rich or you can get more power out of the cars if someone can do it in person. But wouldn't it be just as good if you send it back to them to tweek on it? Iam just tryin to get more info on this since this will be the easiest for me.

The only was to know how it's running is logging data and using a wideband either on a dyno or real world conditions.

Kc93hc, Mt first choice would be an email type tune using TunerCat or TunerPro for code loading and TTS Datamaster for logging after tuner agrees to tweak the tune when you send back logs, then you will get better results. A good tuner will provide 2-3 iterations of that.
However even w/o the software a one time off the shelf mail order tune can vastly improve your ride, but does not guarantee everything is at peak conditions.
In either process above exact WOT AFR can not be guaranteed. The ECM's O2 BLM (Trim) recording is turned off in PE Mode (WOT) and w/o a wideband there is no way to determine the actual AFR.
A good tune on a dyno will get everything done in 2-3 hours including WOT AFR , but it will cost about 4X $$. Even w/dyno tuning as about re-tunes to tweak thinks you don't like. Dyno tune is well worth it if you plan on any competition runs, or if leaving a little on the table keeps you up at nights. Probably not as 'seat of the pants noticeable" for a street car.
I initially started with mail order, actually used two vendors, first not so good, second was much better plus he did re-tunes. Then took what I liked best and constantly tried and tested stuff over a period of time evolving to my current tune.

Bobdec explained it for me thanks. I did the same thing as he described except I used real world logging and tuning for the track that I race at.
