off the shelf cams wont ever be as good as a custom grind for your own set up. I would definitely go with loyd elliots than a cc503... if I could pic a set up would be: LE2heads with 232/240cam loyd on a 350/360ci lt1... its turns almost the same as with the trick flow heads and cam.... around 410whp for $1600

I would probably go with Lloyd's cam over the CC503, also. It has a touch more duration and lift than the 503, and Lloyd has it ground on a 110 LSA, which will suit your build better. Go for it...!

I've always wondered why people are still so enamored with the CC-503 cam.
Same for the Hot Cam....the 306.....and all those other 'old-school' and outdated cams.....
But he11......just call me crazy.

I think the alllure of those cams i all the info out there.. they are the first ones you see and fit the bill for what most peeps want. If Lloyd would not have suggested one that would have produced more hp I would have gone with 503.
On to one My last questions. Disttributor....
So I was originally thinking msd.. but have heard mixed reviews so I'm now leaning toward a stock one. That being said . Do i keep my original one or replace it. My car has 55k and never sees rain. Thouggts....

I hear ya on that... They are the safe play for sure, but you can certainly come up with better these days with a little knowledge and/or by asking a few questions on here.
BTW, KW, I just saw that your "weather" banner in your signature says that it's 70 degrees in San Antonio right now. It was 10 degrees outside when I went to bed last night, and I just got to the shop a few minutes ago and is 27 degrees - INSIDE THE SHOP...!! Porting heads at 27 degrees does not sound appealing right now. I'm moving to San Antonio...!

Don't tempt me...! We could have some serious fun, that's for sure!
My sister used to live in SA. She loved it there. I never got to go visit her while she was in TX, and now she lives in Oregon. I have no desire to visit Oregon. I lived there for 28 years... I'm done with that place!
BTW, 18 degrees outside as I type this. I'm ready for some summer!

Well build is going good .. or was till tonight.... Have been working on getting all My parts and cleaning and painting the other ones and the engine. Have almost everything bit heads in and figured IDE get the timing cover and pan on so I can paint it all assembled. Well night started off ok. With finish cleaning then went to install the new oil pump and of course the bushing around the oil pump shaft is Shot and the new gm pump doesn't come with a new bushing nor does anyone in town have one... Now I'm waiting two days to get rjat in... I continue on figureing ill get the timing cover on. Cam in sprockets on , got it all timed and go to torque the cam bolts in and one snapped off in the end of the cam.. My brand new cam . now I gotta take it to a machine shop and get that removed.. guess I should have stopped with the oil pump snafu.. well I'm deff done now... Time to drink and forget about it
