lt1 swap couple questions

i am doing a lt1 swap into my 91 firebird, i have done a lot of the bolt on mods and a little head work to the stock heads, lt4 cam and 1.6 RR, little stuff like that.

my question is when is a bigger TB need i have a deal on a 52mm TB lined up just wanted to know if i need it, or if it is even needed. will it help anything.

also what is this i hear about a northstar maf will fit and work on lt1? what year and model northstar maf do i need and what will i get from that?

also rear gear i have 373 and the computer is not tuned for them the car seems to run and drive great but will i cause damage if i dont get the computer tuned for them.

do i need the computer tuned for the TB and northstar maf.

Don't bother with the different MAF, not needed. The 52 mm TB may help you a little but again not needed at your power level. If it's a good deal then I would go for it. Tuning is needed for all of the mods you've done so far.

the 52mm tb is a 100 bucks not really sure if thats a deal or not, i see them in summit for around 300


the maf if its a simple swap from another car, a buddy of mine owns a junk yard i can get it for free, just need to know what make and model to get it off from

and the motor came with a computer that he had tuned by sombody not sure who, and the car runs great, just its not tunes for my 373 it was tuned for his camaro with stock 273, is it safe to continue to drive on it without it being tuned for the gears?

Don't swap out the stock MAF. I'm still running mine and approaching 10.9's in the 1/4. What brand is the 52 mm TB? If it's a name brand it's a good deal but if it's just a ported stocker not so great.

You don't need a tune for your gears your speedo will just be off

Throttle body is not needed but it does improve throttle response and gets a little more air in there.

Also you don't really need a different maf the stock one is pretty good
I have the stock one descreened but only because the screen was damaged
And I also got it tuned for that

What exhaust are you running and what is your intake setup?
So the cam and portwork are tuned for? just not the gears?
Is it the lt4 hotcam or a stock lt4 cam?

im not sure 100% of this motor, i bought it from a buddy i seen him build it, so i know it has the parts he said it has but im not sure on intake set up.

but i have a 3inch exhaust system in the stock location with a knock off flowmaster muffler

its the lt4 hot cam with 1.6 roller rockers with the lt4 chip for the roller rockers

yes the cam and headwork are tuned for, but he was going to put it back in his camaro with 273 gears, and he said its not tuned for my 373.

are you sure i dont need to tune for the gears? thinking of going to a 4.11 will i have to tune for them?


also it has ported cast iron heads, not sure why he did not get the alumiums ported but is this hurting anything?

i want to do a little more to the motor but he has done so much already and im not looking to build a race car. just a stout lt1 daily driver
